New Release – STAAD.Pro CONNECT Edition V22 Update 6 (22.06.00)

As part of our commitment to you to deliver new builds more frequently, we are making available this version which adds great new functionality to improve efficiency for engineers around the world and has resolved numerous issues that have been reported and thus highly recommend that you look to adopt this version and improve your working experience.

The principal developments and enhancements that are delivered in this new version of STAAD.Pro are:

General

New Features – Highlight New Features in Physical Workflow

In order to help to identify the major changes that have been implemented in the Physical Model Workflow, a new Highlight New Feature process has been added. This helps you to locate where to find the great features that you may have heard of so you can make immediate use to improve your experience. These include links to help documents that can provide more insight. Once you are happy that you understand these capabilities, click Got It and continue with this additional knowledge without disturbing you in future.

Ideas

We value your feedback and suggestions for improving STAAD.Pro. You may have already known about this by the addition of the ‘Ideas’ channel here in the Bentley Communities site. We have been collecting suggestions to put into our backlog from Ideas posted here. In order to help you quickly log an idea while using STAAD.Pro, we have added a link to this in the Help Backstage so you can quickly get to the site and post your suggestion whilst it is still fresh in your mind.

Physical Modelling

Structure Wizard (*)

One of the challenges experienced when working on similar projects is rapidly creating similar models. The Structure Wizard in the Analytical Workflow now has a partner in the Physical Workflow.

Models can be defined using templates built around basic scripts to describe the model and data as preferred defaults. This release includes a model template to quickly prototype multi tank models.

Releases on Surfaces

When surfaces are included in a physical model, the interface of this with other surfaces can now be controlled through release specifications on the boundary edges or boundary nodes. This control then drives the creation of releases on the analytical plates such as modelling construction joints.

Analysis commands with Physical Models

With the Update 6 release, the Physical Model workflow has been extended to now allow the details of the analysis method to be specified. This includes the standard elastic, P-delta and AISC Direct Analysis methods. Additional analysis methods supported include Bucking and Non-Linear analysis.

Note that with the last two methods, some options do require STAAD.Pro Advanced to take advantage of these analysis. (**)

iTwin Synchronization (TP)

The success of iTwin Services for Design Review included with the Update 5 release is now enhanced with model synchronisation. In earlier releases, this was known as ISM interop and provided in the backstage. This earlier offering allowed interop with a local repository. This interop offering has been simplified to two simple options, Push to update the repository with the STAAD.Pro physical model or Pull to update the current STAAD.Pro model with data in the repository.

Additionally, with the iTwin services offering, a second iModelHub solution is also provided as a technical preview which allows the current model to be uploaded to the iModelHub of the associated Connect Project.

This provides an opportunity to share your model with the design team in a secure and managed environment and without having them install any additional software.

Analysis

Offsets on plates

It is well known that STAAD.Pro has supported assignment of offsets on beams, but offsetting plates in a similar has not been possible until now. With Update 6, you have the capability of using nodes as definition and connection points, but then offset to account for the alignment of the plates such as sitting above beams or to match the face of a wall.

Note that this is currently restricted to use with first order elastic analysis in this release. Additional analysis methods will be added in future releases.

Seismic loading to GB 50011-2010

The range of available codes supported by the static seismic loading routine in STAAD.Pro has been extended to now include the loading as defined in the Chinese publication GB 50011-2010. This provision complements the previous 2001 implementation with a few modifications and parameters to provide better coverage.

Design

IS 800:2007 Extended for Solid Rod Design

The range of profiles that are supported in the Indian steel design modules LSD and WSD, have been extended to provide support for the design of solid steel rods to assist designers who use these profiles as bracing members.

AISI 2016 Extended for Design of Lipped Profiles

The release of cold formed design to AISI 2016 in STAAD.Pro Update 5 has been enhanced in Update 6 with the range of supported profiles extended to include angles with lips, channels with lips and zee profiles with lips.

Additional Modules

RCDC (**)

The Advanced Concrete Design application, RCDC, has been updated to v10.0 which includes: –

  • Philippines code – NSCP – 2015 .
This code supports the design of the following components:

    1. Pile Cap
    2. Footing
    3. Column and Walls
    4. Beams
    5. Slab
  • The Tank Design Module has been extended with the addition of Detail Design Reports and Detailed Drawings for both Tank Walls and Tank Slabs.
  • Eurocode EN 1992-1 (including all National Annex variations) design extended to include additional effects from sway in the design of shear.

For more details on these and other issues that have been addressed in this build Refer to the RCDC Release Notes.

STAAD Foundation Advanced (***)

The concrete foundation application included in the STAAD.Pro installation, STAAD Foundation Advanced (SFA) has been updated to v9.5 which includes: –

  • AS 3600-2018 Mat Foundation including flexure design, punching shear with/without pedestals
  • ACI 318 and IS456 – Pilecap design extended to support unbalanced moment from punching shear

For more details on these and other issues that have been addressed in this build Refer to the SFA Release Notes.

Revision History

The Revision History document details the issues that have been addressed and as with all builds is included in the ReadMe file which can be accessed from the Help section of the application and can also be found here.
